“Pretty Much Dead Already”
Thank goodness Sophia search is over. I kind of had a feeling that it would turn out Sophia was in the barn all along. But when they paused for the last walker to come out i really thought it would be Hershel’s wife. I wonder if Hershel knew that was the girl they were looking for, like why wouldn’t he tell them from the beginning? It was so tragic yet a great surprise ending though.

Living abroad and sharing the good, the less good and the just plain odd.

Ships of the Desert

Any four legged animal which is taller than me will freak me to death. I don’t like being near or  even the sight of it hurtling towards me will bring out a hardcore scream out of my lungs. I’m a 5’6” and that’s just about how wimp I can be.

While driving back home after a short trip to the beach outside the emirates, I spotted camels! Yes, four-legged-animals-taller/bigger-than-me.  I pulled off a chortle like a little kid, I was so stirred up. I have seen camels only in the zoo,  fenced in, famished and ribs roughly visible.  But those camels I saw from the highway were something else, they’re in good shape, peaceful and lack of restrictions.

And the strange thing was they were not in the desert, the herd was wandering at the beachfront. How awesome could that be! Who would’ve thought camels are only for deserts, I guess the tan they’re getting on the wasteland wasn’t fair enough.

We went closer to take photos, and surprisingly that’s when I gave in a loud shriek when one of them came walking in huge steps to my direction. I nearly had a mini heart attack.

Then I figured out they were much quieter and gentler than any quadruped beast.  I therefore proclaim that they are “cool” animals.

Another strike out from my bucket list. Next mission: ride on them.

I finally did it. I packed my bags and left everything I know to live the adventure I always wanted.

Scorching Dubai summer is finally over. There is only two seasons in the UAE: summer and winter. You heard me right, there’s winter in Dubai (one of the hottest places on the planet) and it gets really cold. And btw Christmas is just around the corner too.

I have always been a sucker for a nice sunset, I just couldn’t resist this shot where everything just came together at the right time.

I wonder. I really do. My name's Dutch, a Filipina expat in Dubai. I collect sunsets and sunrises.
